And we're back!

Hey, sorry about the long wait for a new post. But here it is! With finals last December, and then with a really long semester this spring, I did not blog at all. But we´re back in business. I´m writing from Colombia and so please excuse any weird symbols that come up. Here are some highlights from the past 5 months:
  • I had a mullet for like 3 days. That was fun.
  • My criminal law exam had two questions. I didn´t read an entire page of the first question because I didn´t know the question continued. That freaked me out a little. My first thought when I saw that was to pick up my computer, throw it against the wall, and leave. But I finished the exam and, fortunately (or unfortunately?) that was my best grade of the fall semester.
  • This past semester was probably the longest I have ever had. Lots of work, tough classes, lots of non-law school things to worry about, etc. But it seems like a big semester of growth. There was a week when I had to wake up at 4 one day, 5 another, and the usual 6 am the rest. And I had emailed a professor to tell him I wouldn´t be prepared for class, and he called on me anyway! At one point, I knew that the words coming out of my mouth made no sense, and so I just said: I don´t really know what I´m talking about! Apparently it wasn´t as bad as I thought, but it was a stressful week.
  • I went to a 6 overtime basketball game between Syracuse and UConn. Historical and amazing. I got home at 2 in the morning and had to be up at 6 for class. People were sober by the time the game ended because the beer stands were closed. One dude came to the top of the section and lit up a cigarette because he didn´t want to go outside because he couldn´t have entered again. It was awesome.
  • U2 came to Fordham. It was amazing. There were rumours they would play a midnight show, and then they announced that they were playing on Good Morning America at like 8 am on a Friday. The school sent out this email telling us to come and that morning classes were cancelled, and then the law school sent us an email saying: "That email wasn't meant for you, go to class." It was a hard class, the one I would have to skip, but I decided the night before to do it. It was awesome. U2's new song "Magnificent" is unbelievable, and to see it live was unreal. And it didn't affect my grade, so I definitely don't feel any regrets.
  • I got to baptize a great guy named Dave Doty, which was a great experience.
  • I finished my first year of law school. I am happy about that.
  • I read a lot of books last semester. It was a New Year's Resolution to read one non-law school book each month, and I think I read 10 last semester! I read each night on the way home from school in the subway, on Sundays, and sometimes on weekend nights or whatever when I needed a break. Some of the better books I read that I suggest: King Leopold's Ghost (about King Leopold in the Belgian Congo, pretty insane stuff) and Treasure Island was good as well. Gabriel García Marquez's book called The General in His Labrynth was pretty good too. It is about Simón Bolívar, and read the post on here about Bogotá because I saw his house in Bogotá where some of the events in the book happened. Well, the book is kind of like historical fiction, but whatever. I think that I definitely stressed out a lot less this past semester, had more fun, but still worked hard and saw my grades improve dramatically. I think a lot of this law school stuff is confidence and equilibrium.
  • I was accepted to Fordham´s masters program in international political economy, so I will do that along with my law degree and it will just take one extra semester. I am excited.
  • I got some summer stuff to do down in Brazil and am very excited about that and some traveling before and after. I will have to write about that later.
Things are good. I will write more later. Thanks for reading.

Glad you're back, Clint! And even more glad that a mullet figured into your five-month highlight list.
